WCCO Renewable Energy Trades: Solar Assisted HVAC Installations, Solar Panel Installations.
WCCO’s Workforce Development Program, supplies a new pool of Certified Tradesmen to the Building Construction Workforce. There is a shortage of trained skilled construction workers, who are in high demand.
WCCO trains, hires and permanently employees its graduates, then outsources Certified Skilled Labor Construction Crews to the General Contracting Community.

WCCO offers an Apprenticeship & Training Program for the Certification of Journeymen-Skilled Construction Craft Laborers. Apprentices are trained under the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training Specifications, which meets all federal and state requirements for, Formal Apprenticeship Training, with nationally recognized Standards and Accreditation.

Apprentices graduate from WCCO’s Trade Training Program with a Journeyman-Construction Trade Certificate, as a Skilled Construction Craft Laborer. This Certificate is approved and credentialed by the Department of Labor and is valid anywhere in the United States. This Certificate is a national, industry-recognized Certification, under the DOL Construction Trade Training Standards, which assures building contractors that the Apprentices are properly trained in specific qualifications and knowledge of the construction industry and has mastered the necessary skill-sets needed to work in their field.

Apprentices learn from, hands on experience, and how to to identify and select the proper tool for a particular task. They must demonstrate safe practices when using hand and power tools. Apprentices learn the principles of construction for the following structures: foundations, steel and concrete building frames, roof trusses, plate girders, flat slabs, retaining walls, masonry arches, rigid frames, and steel bridges. We measure the apprentice hand-eye coordination and hand-tool dexterity. Apprentices must be able to pass a physical capacity exam which includes lifting between 40 and 70 lbs. They must be able to withstand frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and climbing. Successful completion of our testing demonstrates the apprentice has the physical capacity to perform the job and has acquired the knowledge and skills they need, to follow specifications, for their work scope.e and skills they need, to follow specifications, for their work scope.
Apprentices work on construction crews and learn from Master-Journeymen as instructors who teach and develop our apprentices in the basic trade skills that are necessary to succeed in the field of General Construction. Our journeymen-instructors are professional master-craftsmen whose incomparable experience and knowledge is passed on to our apprentices through direct training. From a combination of classroom learning and hands-on training, under the direct guidance of experienced, master-tradesmen, apprentices will gain invaluable “real-life” knowledge, that will prepare them for any challenges they might encounter on the job site.
